Monthly Meeting September 2, 2008
Chairman Rodger Lodholz called the September meeting to order at 7:00
p.m. Also present were, James Jansen, Roger Henke, Tim Murphy and 25
visitors.
The Treasurer read the minutes of the August Monthly meeting.
Supervisor Jansen made a motion to accept the minutes as read.
Supervisor Henke seconded. Minutes approved.
The Treasurer reported the balance as of January 1, 2008 as
$1,010,797.25, total receipts as of August 31, 2008 of $1,067,410.12
and total disbursements as of August 31, 2008 of $1,902,743.74.
Balance on hand as of August 31, 2008 was $175,463.63. Supervisor
Jansen made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Chairman
Lodholz seconded. Motion carried.
During Visitor and Comment time, Visitor asked about the status of the
Fire Numbers, Chairman Lodholz stated that the town was in the process
of putting them up. Carol Horneck stated that she had many nice
comments about the town hall when holding an ATV gathering. Richard
Zacharias ask the board to address an incident report dated 6-20-2006
in which he was accused of taking 6 yards of gravel. Rodger Lodholz
thought that the issue was cleared up 2 years ago. The town will look
back at the minutes to see if they have already addressed the issue.
If not will address the issue at the next meeting. Visitor commented
that we do not use the truck enough to merit having it and we should
get rid of it. Visitor commented that a person with a plowing
background was recently retired in the area and would the town be
interested in having him do work for the town. Chairman Lodholz stated
he would like to hear from him. Visitor commented that it was her
understanding that assessments had to be done in 1 year per the state
but our township was doing it in a 3-year period. Visitor ask Chairman
Lodholz to comment on an altercation with Supervisor Chairman Lodholz
declined.
Kramer’s building supply presented a bid for the town hall garage.
The bid was for a 34 X 34 building with a 14’ sidewall with a price of
20,341.43. Also included in the bid was two Commercial operators door
opener for 853.46 plus 350.00 for labor. Chairman Rodger Lodholz made
a motion to accept the bid for 21,545.00, James Jansen 2nd the
motion.
Fire protection between the town of Elcho and Upham was reviewed. The
contract was the same as last year for 24,000. Supervisor Henke made a
motion and Chairman Lodholz seconded. Supervisor Jansen stated he
would like a run report form last year for informational purposes.
Pat Anderson from the Langlade Humane society asked the town for
financial assistance. With increasing costs, they are asking townships
to consider giving 1,000 per year to the society. Supervisor Jansen
said to forward the request to budget time.
Chairman Lodholz made a motion to pay the bills. Supervisor
Jansen seconded. Motion carried.
Supervisor Jansen made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman
Lodholz seconded. Meeting adjourned.
